On book tours and a nice surprise at the end of a long week…

I’m just back from the first leg of the book tour for By the Book: A Reader’s Guide to Life (Text Publishing) which covered Sydney and Brisbane and culminated in a lovely event at the Waurn Ponds Library in Geelong. I’m confirmed in my long-held respect for the librarians and book shop owners and retail workers who are the curators of much of our book culture. It was gratifying and warming to be in rooms full of people who love books and are curious and eager to enjoy, learn, discuss and transmit all their fascinating, eccentric and life (and mind) changing contents.

And on my return, I saw the link below, and of course we must include the Directors of Writers Festivals such as Executive Producer Laura Kroetsch who is now giving Adelaide Writers’ Week such a prominent place in each of our literary years. I’m looking forward to speaking with Laura on November 11th in the Barossa Valley. And attending the 2013 Adelaide Writer’s Week to speak about my work and interview some of the other guests too.
