Interview with musician, songwriter and memoirist, Deborah Conway

Deborah Conway is known for her great voice, her magnetic performances, her gutsy presentations and her brilliant song writing, one reviewer pointing to her caustic wit and acidic insight. But how does songwriting translate to a full length memoire? With wisdom and depth  is my view. Especially when the memoire covers not only her family, the one she came from and the one she made with her husband Willy Zeiger, but also sex, love, birth, death, business, creativity, making music and making the art that is songwriting. A story of wild success, a measure of failure, a lesson in fighting through expectations, of taking things into your own hands, of risk and reward, of love and commitment to family.

Here’s the recording of a conversation we had on 17th March in Melbourne, Australia. With two excellent musical performances from Deborah and her husband a collaborator Willy Zeiger.
